
Alemka Russell
Alemka (Aly) Russell is a registered psychologist with AHPRA, a Member of the Australian Psychological Society and a member of the Health Psychology College. She has been practising psychology for over 20 years. Aly first started working with clients on the Mental Health Unit at Cairns Hospital. She experienced the complexities of living with a mental health disorder from the client’s lived experience, together with the impact of mental illness on families, loved ones and carers. Aly has worked extensively with young adults on the autism spectrum. She has also provided psychological support and assessments to trans and gender diverse people. She is skilled in working with rehabilitation for older persons, including palliative care. Her approach to counselling is focused on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Compassionate and Emphatic counselling, Motivational therapy and Structured Brief Interventions. Aly lives with her partner not far from the city of Geelong on a property that rehomes rescued animals. Aly is working towards becoming a registered Equine Psychotherapist – this care is available under the NDIS and GP Mental Health Care Plans.
